Brown Ledge Centennial Book (Pre-Order)

We have designed this book to be a treasure trove of memories, anecdotes, pictures, history, and reminders of this unique camp we all know and love. Not meant to be a comprehensive history of everything that ever happened at Camp, we’re hoping this will be more like a collective scrapbook for campers, counselors, and alums to pore over as they reminisce about Brown Ledge. Just as generations of campers used to sit on the office porch and look through the old booklets, we’re hoping you will go through these pages with a bunkie, a sister, a beloved Brown Ledge friend—and that it will elicit a laugh, a sigh, a remembered experience. 

Our opening chapter will ground us in the founding of Brown Ledge and its early history. After that, we have arranged the book in roughly chronological order, sharing what was vivid and impactful in the ten decades since BLC began. Some of the material will be familiar (how could we not include HEB’s “Information for Campers”?), some will be new (we have unearthed some amazing pictures and Ledger articles). As much as possible, we are featuring the voices and writing of Brown Ledgers, reflecting the values of Camp: that it is the sum of the people who inhabit it in any given summer—and over the many years it has been in existence.

In any case, our hope is that this book will be evocative of your Brown Ledge experiences, and will cause that little Brown Ledge pilot light we all have inside to glow with warmth and connection.
